Fractions (Including Problems)
Fractions represent parts of a whole, and we can compare, add, subtract, and solve word problems using different types of fractions.
Core concept
Fractions can be proper (numerator smaller than denominator, like 3/4), improper (numerator larger, like 5/4), or mixed numbers (like 1 1/4).
How it works
To add or subtract fractions with different denominators, we first convert them to a common denominator.
Why it matters
We solve fraction word problems by carefully identifying what operation is needed based on the situation described.
Key detail
Understanding fractions well helps us handle real-life situations, like dividing food, measuring ingredients, or sharing items fairly.
