Five Kingdom Classification

Core concept

Monera includes simple, single-celled organisms without a true nucleus, like bacteria, found almost everywhere on Earth.

How it works

Protista includes mostly single-celled organisms with a true nucleus, like amoeba and paramecium, more complex than Monera.

Why it matters

Fungi include organisms like mushrooms and yeasts, which absorb nutrients from their environment rather than producing their own food.

Key detail

Plantae (plants) produce their own food through photosynthesis, while Animalia (animals) obtain nutrition by consuming other organisms.
