Practice and Revision - Life Processes in Living Organisms - Part 1
Let us practise and revise what we learned about life processes in living organisms - part 1. Living organisms perform essential processes l
Core concept
Nutrition involves obtaining and processing food, differing between autotrophs (making their own food) and heterotrophs (consuming other organisms).
How it works
Photosynthesis, performed by autotrophs, converts light energy, carbon dioxide, and water into glucose and oxygen.
Why it matters
Respiration releases energy from food through aerobic (using oxygen) or anaerobic (without oxygen) processes at the cellular level.
Key detail
These processes work together, ensuring organisms have both the materials and energy needed for growth, repair, and daily functioning.

• Nutrition: obtaining, processing food.
• Autotrophs make own food; heterotrophs consume others.
• Photosynthesis: light+CO2+water → glucose+oxygen.
• Performed by autotrophs.
• Respiration releases energy from food.
• Aerobic (oxygen) or anaerobic (no oxygen).
• Occurs at cellular level.
• These processes ensure growth, repair, functioning.
