Practice and Revision - Integers
Let us practise and revise what we learned about integers. Integers include positive numbers, negative numbers, and zero, and understanding
Core concept
Integers include all whole numbers and their negatives, like ...-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3..., extending infinitely in both directions.
How it works
Adding two positive or two negative integers follows normal addition rules, but adding numbers with different signs requires finding the difference.
Why it matters
Subtracting an integer is the same as adding its opposite, like 5-3 being the same as 5+(-3).
Key detail
Multiplying or dividing integers with the same sign gives a positive result, while different signs give a negative result.

Quick notes
• Integers: whole numbers and negatives.
• Example: ...-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3...
• Same-sign addition: normal addition.
• Different-sign addition: find the difference.
• Subtracting = adding the opposite.
• 5-3 = 5+(-3).
• Same-sign multiply/divide = positive result.
• Different-sign multiply/divide = negative result.
