Motion and Types of Motion
Motion is the change in position of an object over time, and understanding different types of motion helps us describe how things move.
Core concept
Rectilinear motion occurs when an object moves in a straight line, like a car travelling on a straight road.
How it works
Circular motion occurs when an object moves along a circular path, like a fan blade or a satellite orbiting Earth.
Why it matters
Periodic motion occurs when an object repeats its motion at regular intervals, like a pendulum swinging back and forth.
Key detail
Understanding these types of motion helps us describe and analyse the movement of objects in the world around us.
